Twenty Years & Counting

Back in 2003 Martyn was installed as Worshipful Master of Staple Hill Lodge, who would have guessed that all these years later the masters circle he joined, would still be going thanks to him and his wife.

The 2003 Masters Circle is still very much alive and well and to celebrate 20 years of regular social gatherings and fraternal visits. Members, with wives, partners, one of the circle’s widows, and friends spent a happy weekend in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

After a full day sightseeing, shopping or, in some cases, having a very long lie in, they enjoyed a gala dinner on Saturday evening during which the organising secretary Martyn Radnedge of Staple Hill Lodge was presented with a decanter and bottle of port in appreciation of all the hard work he and his wife Kate have put in over the past 20 years.

Making the presentation, Rob Dewbery of Prince of Wales Lodge said that Martyn’s enthusiasm and hard work were the main reason the circle was still in good heart. Another reason was that the members and their wives enjoy each other’s company!

The weekend raised £800 for Winstons Wish, the charity the circle supported in its first year.

With a Christmas lunch not far away and fraternal visits being planned for the coming masonic year, the circle looks forward to continuing its times together.

Someone in the group said “here’s to the next 20 years”. Martyn wasn’t so sure, and given that his decanter was empty, he clearly couldn’t join in the toast!
